Powick Club

Formally called Powick Hospital Bowling Club .
1961 the Powick club was formed, by the staff of the Hospital at Powick near Worcester.
The games were played in the Hospital grounds and very often watched by some of the patients.

The Hospital closed in 1983 and was transferred to the other side of Worcester to Ronkswood.
The club moved to the Cinderella grounds in Worcester, Cinderella being a shoe factory on Worcester city outskirts (St.Johns). The club shared the Cinderella greens with Kay’s bowling club who had been at the Cinderella ground for some time, the Powick hospital club dropped the name Hospital from their title and remained with the Kay’s club for twelve months.
Moving to Corporation greens in Cripplegate park by the New road Worcester opposite the County cricket ground the club enjoyed twenty years and well established itself, and later was part of the Consortium of other six clubs that formed the Consortium of Cripplegate bowlers club.
All the facilities over the past twenty years to-date have been restored and managed by Peter and Pat Stokes who are also the trustees of the Consortium.
