From an article written by Steve Carley for the Worcester Evening News on the 1st August and reproduced with his permission see the full report;

The Holy grails have been found.

Many moons ago the Powick bowling club resided at the Powick Hospital grounds (Near Worcester) they massed a whole lot of lovely trophies that were proudly displayed for all to see in the Cabinets in the club.
Alas! they had to move to other premises and all goods tables chairs and the kitchen sink were to be transferred with them all except the trophies that is.
The trophies went missing, nobody knew where they were, they were given up for lost and Twenty years later.....
a cardboard box was given to the receptionist at the Worcester Royal for disposal, being rather nosey the receptionist had a peek and yes you have it there they were in all there glory the missing cups.
They were all black and tarnished and had to be sent to for cleaning. They have yet to be re cabinised in the Cripplegate club.
This is breaking news and photos and more info will be added later....
If anyone can add more to this story I would be obliged, please E mail or phone Pat or Pete.

Lost history is found in a sack (This article appeared in the Malvern Gazette 4th November 2000) From the archive, first published Saturday 4th Nov 2000. A WORCESTER club which quietly celebrated its centenary last year is delightedly catching up on its "lost" history! Or, to be more precise, the County Ground Bowling Club has suddenly found itself re-united with much of its documented past. Recently, a key figure in the club, 84 years-old Cyril Dear was handed a black plastic sack which he was surprised and overjoyed to discover was filled with a pile of hardback minute books. They detail the activities and sporting achievements of the club from 1910 until 1973 - nearly two-thirds of the club's life-span. Lost history is found in a sack. . In the year of 2002 the Worcester City Council (UK) claimed that they could no longer afford to fund the upkeep of the municipal bowling greens at Cripplegate park, the greens were sadly allowed to deteriorate, seeing this demise a small group of dedicated people decided to come to the rescue of the greens.
They were Peter and his wife Pat Stokes, Peter Wood, Alan Sier and John Cambridge.
The year 2003 they took over the responsibility of the park greens from the City Council and started to rejuvinate the greens (all three rinks) to what are now absolutely first class standards.
They formed a consortium of the bowling clubs that used the greens and called them the Consortium Cripplegate Bowlers.
During 2004 a full negotiating team from the consortium managed to obtain a lease from the City Council for a Five year lease. They then took on full responability of the greens and the surrounding areas.
